Script tags stop working on March 1, 2027.
Shopify froze script tag creation on October 1, 2026 — and there is no list of script tags anywhere in your admin. This audit pulls every script tag on your store and shows where each one has to go.
Setup — about two minutes
The audit reads your script tags through a custom app that you create in your own admin. Read-only, one permission.
Open “Develop apps”
In your Shopify admin: Settings → Apps and sales channels → Develop apps. Allow custom app development if Shopify asks.
Settings → Apps and sales channels → Develop apps
Create the app
Click “Create an app” and name it:
ScriptTag Audit
Check one scope
Open Configuration → Admin API integration → Configure. Under access scopes, check only this one, then Save:
read_script_tags
Install and copy the token
Click “Install app”. Then open the API credentials tab and reveal the Admin API access token — it starts with shpat_. Paste it into the audit form below.
Run the audit
Audit report —
Sample dataShopify returned no script tags for this app. Note: Shopify scopes script tags to the app that created them — an empty result means this audit app has none of its own. If scripts still load on your storefront, check Settings → Customer events and your theme’s app embeds, and ask each app vendor for their March 1, 2027 plan.
